Boys & girls tennis

Overview:

GRACEAC tennis operates as a Catholic United sport. This means that the students at GRACEAC member schools combine together to form a Catholic United team or teams, and play against other schools in an outside league, or independent schedule. Tennis is open to students in 5th-8th grade.

The Catholic United tennis program is large enough that we can split into two teams - Catholic United West (CUW) & Catholic United East (CUE). CUW's home courts are at West Catholic High School 1801 Bristol Ave GR 49504 and CUE home courts are at The CAT. Parents are welcome to choose which team they want their child to participate on during registration.

As a Catholic United sport, team specifics are determined by GRACEAC. This includes who the coach is, when/where practices are held, uniforms, etc.

Although Tennis is a CU sport, the coaches are typically parent volunteers like all of our other sports in our league.  The coach will set the practice schedule days and times when available at each facility.

Since our teams will practice at our high schools, WC or The CAT, some of the practices will be changed due to the high school teams playing scheduled matches and also make-up matches during the season.

Starting in 2026, we will add 5th grade to the tennis program.  Our 5th & 6th grade players will combine to play in clinic style, which is mostly practices and a few matches. They will compete against the other CU team and GRC 5/6th teams a few times during the season.  The tennis season consists of a combination of practices & matches.

Our 7th & 8th graders will compete in a league of mostly public schools in the GR  and surrounding area.  We will have 2 teams in 7/8th: CUW and CUE, both playing in the league.  The 7/8th league will set the rules and game schedules.

Catholic United tennis takes place in the spring season. Practices typically do not begin until after Spring Break. The season will conclude before Memorial Day Weekend. GRACEAC will provide your child with a uniform top, which will be returned at the end of the season. Parents will need to provide their child with a tennis racquet, tennis shoes, and a water bottle for each practice/match. Any color shorts will work fine.
