PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The Catholic United Competitive Cheer program combines the excitement and athleticism of competitive cheerleading with the values and principles of the Christian faith.
This program is designed to promote:
Physical fitness & athletic development
Teamwork & cooperation
Character development
Spiritual growth
Fellowship & friendship
Competition & sportsmanship
Cheerleaders will learn and develop skills in:
Cheer
Tumbling
Stunting
Jumps
Competition routines
TEAM STRUCTURE — CATHOLIC UNITED MODEL
The program will follow the Catholic United model, offering two program pathways:
Catholic United East — CUE
Typically schools that feed into Catholic Central High School
Catholic United West — CUW
Typically schools that feed into West Catholic High School
Families will choose CUE or CUW during registration.
The number of participants will determine how many teams are formed within each program.
SAFETY FIRST
Safety is always the top priority in competitive cheer.
All participants are expected to follow coach instructions and established safety guidelines.
General Safety Expectations
HAVE FUN!
• Cheerleaders must follow all coach instructions
• Athletes will perform skills appropriate for their ability and experience
• Coaches will determine when athletes are ready to progress to new skills
• Proper technique and spotting will be emphasized
• Athletes should communicate any concerns or injuries to their coaches
• Respect for teammates, coaches, officials, and opponents is expected at all times

COMPETITIONS
Competitive Cheer teams will have the opportunity to prepare for and participate in cheer competitions.

Coaches will communicate the competition schedule, expectations, and team requirements to families.
COMMUNICATION
All program communication will take place through TeamSnap.

TRANSPORTATION
Families are responsible for transportation to and from all practices and competitions.
No school-provided transportation is included.
PARTICIPATION & SAFETY EXPECTATIONS
Competitive Cheer requires commitment, athletic ability, teamwork, and consistent practice.
• Practices may be physically demanding
• Coaches will not require an athlete to perform beyond their ability
• Athletes are expected to work toward improving their skills
• Attendance and participation are important to team development
• Parents must notify coaches of any injuries or physical limitations
• Cheerleaders are expected to communicate concerns with their coaches
