PROGRAM OVERVIEW
GRACEAC Baseball is a school-based team sport, where member schools compete against one another throughout the spring season.
The league is designed to:
- Develop baseball fundamentals
Promote teamwork and sportsmanship
Build confidence and leadership
Encourage faith-based competition
Provide a fun and competitive experience for all athletes
SCHOOL-BASED PROGRAM
Each participating school is responsible for organizing its own team.
This includes:
Selecting coaches
Determining practice locations
Setting practice schedules
Providing team uniforms
GRACEAC is responsible for:
League scheduling
Playing rules
League standings
Postseason tournament administration
TEAM STRUCTURE
GRACEAC offers two league divisions:
5th/6th Grade League
7th/8th Grade League
To participate, schools must field a minimum roster of:
11 players for the team
If a school cannot field enough players, the Athletic Director will work with nearby GRACEAC schools to establish an approved team merger.
SEASON TIMELINE
Practices Begin: Mid-March
Regular Season: Begins the week following Spring Break and Holy Week
Postseason Tournament: Concludes before Memorial Day Weekend
Practice Limits
Preseason
Up to 4 practices per week
Maximum 8 hours per week
Regular Season
- Up to 3 practices per week
- Maximum 6 hours per week REGULAR SEASON & TOURNAMENT
Each team will play:
8 regular-season games
At the conclusion of the regular season:
Every team qualifies for the GRACEAC Single-Elimination Tournament
Tournament seeding is based on:
- Regular season record
- League standings
Scores and standings are tracked throughout the season.
GAME FORMAT
5th/6th and 7th/8th Grades
- 5 innings or 70 minutes
- No new inning will begin after 70 minutes
- Drop-dead time: 80 minutes at the next dead ball
- If the time limit is reached, the official score will revert to the last completed inning
Postseason Tournament
Tournament play follows a different format:
- Games are played to the full length based on grade level
- 6 innings for 5th/6th Grade
- 7 innings for 7th/8th Grade
- No time limit is enforced
- The mercy rule remains in effect when applicable
MINIMUM PLAYING TIME
GRACEAC believes every athlete deserves meaningful participation and opportunities to develop.
Each player is guaranteed:
At least two complete defensive innings (6 outs)
At least one official at-bat
Free defensive substitutions are permitted to help ensure all players receive meaningful playing time throughout the season.
